Chisholm Institute - Day in the Life series

The Project

Chisholm Institute, Australia’s leading vocational training institution, engaged with us to create a series of videos highlighting what a day in the life of a international student looks like. Our task was to put together 3 videos, with 3 different students, representing different campuses and onsite programs to engage prospective students and show them what life is like being a Chisholm student.

The Process

Our first role was to storyboard with Chisholm and and develop the concept, locations and talent needed for each video. Once we had all these elements locked in we set filming dates and got to work. We set about following and filming each of the 3 students through their daily routines both on and off campus. This included any morning rituals, getting to and from campus, their classes, time spent with friends and engaging in any extra-circular activities. We also filmed an interview with each student talking about their life at Chisholm, what they love about it and what they enjoy about living in Melbourne. This was used as a narrative piece both to-camera and as a voice over.

One other fun element we included in the filming process was to have each student record a mobile-style vlog with their phones to provide an almost live commentary of how their day was progressing. We also captured a range of photography on each day.

Once all the filming took place we set about piecing each video together. The process of trying to condense a whole day into sub three and a half minutes was a challenge. With so much great content we had to make sure we kept the heart of the story there while keeping the pace of the videos moving along.

The Outcome

The process as a whole ran smoothly and the final pieces of content looked amazing. Chisholm were really happy with what we put together and we really enjoyed collaborating with them on such a wonderful, unique and exciting project.
