Great Place To Work™ Virtual Awards 2021

The Project

Great Place To Work™®, the global authority on workplace culture, approached us to help them create a virtual awards ceremony to recognise Australia’s greatest Best Workplaces™ and reward them for their outstanding contributions to their businesses and employees over the last 12 months.

The Process

The Australia’s Best Workplaces list was divided into 4 categories – Micro, Small, Medium and Large organisations. We worked closely with Great Place to Work™ to create a concept & format that would help recognise and celebrate Australia’s best workplaces. We settled on a countdown style format revealing each company’s ranking as well as providing a snapshot of the working culture of each organisation through images and key statistics and employee comments.

We pre-recorded our hosts utilising on-location and remote filming approaches, they provided background on the Great Place to Work™ organisation, introduced the category lists and announced company rankings. We filmed one of the hosts (Sean Aylmer) remotely from his home in Sydney who provided insights into how the companies were selected. He also panelled a virtual discussion with Samantha Huddle (General Manager) and Great Place to Work’s™ global CEO Michael C. Bush whom we also filmed remotely from the US, sharing insights into how businesses are tackling the challenges faced by the pandemic.

To help highlight the successful companies we created celebration style videos to accompany their ranking announcements. Eight companies offered to share with us what it meant for them to make the list and what it was that made their organisation a great workplace. Unfortunately, with widespread restrictions being implemented across the country our ability to film onsite was impacted, so we pivoted quickly to record these remotely, using existing assets supplied by the companies to highlight their culture and achievements.

Once we had all the various segments together, we produced a series of short hype videos that were used across varies social media platforms promoting the reveal. Then finally, we pulled it all together, a one hour video which was launched on YouTube at a specific date and time. The awards reveal video then went live and the audience tuned in to find out how they had performed against the Best Workplaces in Australia.

The Outcome

The whole process from initial discussions to virtual launch took around 2 months. Great Place To Work™ were extremely happy with final result and though we had many challenges due to pandemic restrictions, a little resourcefulness and “can do” attitude resulted in producing a final a product that was worth celebrating.
